Today we are checking out a geometrical study by Isaac Ocasio at Kent State University. The model itself begins to fold and wrap in on its original cube to generate 3 new shapes. The project interpenetrates on every edge creating a new visual field depending on the views angle. The model proves to be interesting approach to exploring the fold and solid and void. Check it out after the jump!

“The goal for this project was to design a 5″x 5″x 5” cube that would contain three shapes. Furthermore the three shapes needed to interpenetrate to create a fourth shape within the interstitial space.
I then took the project a step further by taking that fourth shape and exploding it out of the 5″x 5″x 5″ cube. (This is seen with the three forms coming out of the cube, when these forms are put together they create the fourth shape in the interstitial space)”
